Privacy Policy & Terms of Use

Hwasee.bang (the "Service") is a collaborative writing platform operated by Hwasee (contact: kkycokr@gmail.com). Members sign up and build stories together, one sentence at a time.

2.1 Eligibility

Anyone aged 14 or older may create an account. You use the Service with the nickname and password you choose at sign-up.

2.2 Prohibited conduct

• Posting content that defames or disparages another person
• Posting sexual, violent, or hateful content
• Using someone else's work without permission
• Interfering with the normal operation of the Service
• Creating multiple accounts to obtain points dishonestly

Accounts found engaging in the above may be deleted without prior notice.

• Reproduction, transmission, and display in order to operate the Service and provide its features
• Use in promotional and marketing material for the Service
• Use for advertising and monetisation purposes
• Commercial use, including publication, exhibition, and the creation of derivative works

This licence is non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual, and royalty-free. You may stop granting it at any time by deleting your account, although uses that already took place before you left are not retroactively revoked.

Where Hwasee makes use of a member's work, Hwasee makes reasonable efforts to credit the original author.

Passwords are stored as scrypt hashes using a randomly generated per-account salt; the original password is never retained. The email address is optional — leaving it blank places no restriction on your use of the Service.

When you delete your account, your personal data — nickname, name, email address, and password hash — is deleted immediately. Because the stories are collaborative works, posts you contributed may be kept and attributed to "anonymous" so that the story remains coherent for everyone else who wrote in it.

Where a law requires records to be retained, they are kept for the period that law specifies.

The English pages of the Service group cookies and similar browser storage into two categories. The first is always active; the second runs only after you accept it.

6.1 Strictly necessary storage (always active)

This is storage the Service cannot work without. It is not used for advertising or measurement, and it is kept even if you reject the second category:

• Sign-in state, so you are not logged out between visits. This is the same sign-in used on the Korean site, held in your browser's local storage (hwasee_user, hwasee_token) rather than in cookies. Signing in or out on either site applies to both.
• Your cookie choice itself (hwasee_en_cookie_consent), so the banner does not ask you again on every page.
• If you sign in from the English pages, the page you were reading is held briefly in your browser's session storage (hwasee_en_return_to) so you are brought back to it once you finish signing in on the Korean pages. This is cleared right after and does not persist across browser sessions.

6.2 Analytics and advertising (only after you accept)

Until you press Accept on the cookie banner, analytics and advertising storage stay switched off:

• Google Analytics (GA4). The English pages use Google Consent Mode with ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization, and analytics_storage all set to denied by default. In that state the Google tag still loads and may send a cookieless, anonymous signal to Google, but it does not read or write analytics or advertising storage on your device. Pressing Accept switches those four settings to granted.
• Kakao AdFit advertising. AdFit is not covered by Google Consent Mode, so it is controlled by not loading it at all: the AdFit script is added to the page only after you press Accept. Before that, no request to AdFit is made.

6.3 What Accept and Reject do

• Accept — grants the four Consent Mode settings above and loads the AdFit advertising script. Your choice is saved in this browser.
• Reject — leaves analytics and advertising storage denied, loads no advertising script, and removes the empty advertising slots from the page. Your sign-in state is unaffected.
• No choice yet — treated exactly like Reject until you decide.

Your choice is stored only in the browser you made it in. If you use another browser or device, or clear your site data, the banner will ask again. This policy page itself loads no analytics or advertising scripts.

6.4 Advertising partners and disclosure to third parties

Hwasee.bang may display advertising through Google AdSense and Kakao AdFit. Each of these services may use cookies or device identifiers to show you personalised advertising:

Apart from these advertising services and any disclosure required by law, we do not provide your personal data to third parties.

You may exercise the following rights at any time:

• Access and correct your personal data (Profile → change password)
• Delete your account and personal data (Profile → delete account)
• Ask questions or raise objections about how your data is handled

Account management is available on the Korean site at hwasee.me/bang, where you sign in with the same account.

Hwasee is not liable for interruptions to the Service caused by circumstances beyond its control, such as natural disasters or server failures. Responsibility for any dispute arising from content a member posts rests with that member.

We announce changes to these terms within the Service at least 7 days in advance, and at least 30 days in advance for significant changes.

Hwasee.bang is run by an individual operator and offers a voluntary donation feature. Donating is entirely optional and has no effect whatsoever on your use of the Service. Donations are used solely for the costs of running the Service, such as server and domain fees.
