The Moon Never Sets in That Well
A person dives into a well where the moon never sets, chasing an illusory pearl, only to discover that life itself is in the flowing, not the grasping.

Even in the morning when the moon sets and the sun rises, a brilliantly luminous moon still floats in the well.
I threw myself into the well.
Then I saw a pearl-like orb that the well had swallowed.
I could not tell whether that orb was the moon as seen from within the well, or a moon that had always been there.
Gazing at that orb, which might or might not be the moon, I slowly sank.
When that form drew near enough to touch, so close I could almost grasp it, I stretched my arms with all my might.
The moment I seized the orb I thought was the moon, it became foam and scattered in many directions.
It was futile. What was it I had been trying to reach?
No matter how many tens or hundreds of times I grasped for it, I could not hold it.
Why does my life always flow as it pleases? Why can I never reach what I long to touch?
Then I understood: it was not the grasping, but the flowing itself that was my life.
