My eyes were getting teary at this touching moment when Grandmother said, "Do you mind keeping this in the fridge for a bit?"
I wanted to say 'really?' but held it in and said instead, "Grandmother, today is my last day working here."
"Oh? Then that won't work," she said—what was she thinking, leaving a cake to be stored until tomorrow?
"Grandmother, just leave it here. I'll let the next person know. Please come get it tomorrow for sure."
"Huh? How am I supposed to trust someone I've never met before? No way~" and with that, Grandmother coolly took her leave.
