I grasped at my half-awake mind and searched for the remote to turn off the air conditioner, but it had vanished.
It couldn't be—my cat was clicking the remote buttons on its own, playing with it.
I gave the cat a different toy and took the remote back.
I turned off the air conditioner, but I was completely awake now; I turned on the TV in a daze.
The screen showed only early morning news, and my cat was already sound asleep beside me.
