Sometimes there was boisterous laughter, and sometimes the sound of quarreling and bickering.
I poked a hole through the paper door with my finger.
A space filled with darkness so complete there was not even a faint light; only sound flowed from that space.
I pressed my ear close. "Who should we choose for tonight? It's almost midnight, so we need to hurry."
Then someone else said, "Let's make it the person listening from outside right now."
I froze in shock. In that instant, I felt something brush past my body.
I was dragged into the abandoned house by an invisible force.
Ugh. Someone covered my mouth. Hidden in the darkness, only the outline was visible; their face was unknown.
He made a quiet gesture with his index finger.
As his finger left my mouth, I finally realized: this place was not reality.
