The tape, stained with something dark red, seemed to indicate it was no ordinary object.
I absently picked up some of the dark red liquid with my finger and tasted it; it was strawberry jam.
At that moment, someone turned on a toaster inside the closet.
Then the videotape sneezed and demanded butter.
I didn't understand what was happening, but I did as the tape seemed to want.
Then golden-brown toast popped out of the toaster, and with butter and strawberry jam spread on it, it looked delicious.
As it happened, I hadn't eaten a proper breakfast anyway, and I instinctively devoured the strawberry jam-covered toast.
It was the best-tasting toast I'd ever had, and still hungry, I examined the tape again.
When I flipped the tape over, I found my childhood video along with the words "Filmed by: Mom."
